Powder Mountain transfers from $200

Powder Mountain is about 55 miles from SLC airport, roughly 75 to 90 minutes in normal conditions. You drive north to Ogden, up Ogden Canyon to Eden, then climb SR-158, one of the steepest state highways in Utah, so the vehicle and its tires matter more here than anywhere else on this site.

A private SUV for up to 4 passengers starts at $200 per vehicle, one way, with taxes included. Groups of 5 to 14 ride together in a Sprinter van.

Flights are tracked. Wait charges may apply if a delay runs more than an hour past the scheduled arrival.

Your departure is just as easy. Your driver picks you up at your lodging and takes you back to the airport, with time to spare for check-in and security.

Rides are operated by Elite Transportation, a family-owned private transportation company serving Park City, Deer Valley and Salt Lake City. Request a rate above and dispatch confirms by text or email, usually within the hour.

A bit about your transfer to Powder Mountain

Updated Oct 16, 2026. Drive times are for normal conditions.

The trip from SLC airport to Powder Mountain is mostly easy driving with one hard part at the end. The interstate gets you to Ogden, a scenic canyon road gets you to Eden, and then SR-158 climbs steeply to the resort. Plan the trip around that last climb.

The route, step by step

  1. I-15 north to Ogden. The longest stretch, all interstate.
  2. Ogden Canyon on SR-39. A canyon road east out of Ogden to Pineview Dam, at a junction known as Eden Junction.
  3. SR-158 through Eden. The road crosses the dam, runs along Pineview Reservoir and passes the town of Eden. This part is part of the Ogden River Scenic Byway.
  4. The climb. Past Wolf Creek, SR-158 enters a narrow canyon and climbs to the resort. It averages about a 14% grade over 5 miles and ends at Powder Mountain's parking lot, about 11.7 miles from Eden Junction.

That last section is why Powder Mountain feels different from the other resorts near Salt Lake. A 2WD car on worn all-season tires that copes fine on I-15 can struggle here in snow.

Our guide to 4WD and rental cars for a Utah ski trip explains tire markings and what rental counters usually give you.

Where you get dropped off

Powder Mountain spreads across several base points. The resort's Lodge Route shuttle stops at the Powder Country bus stop, Sundown Center, Hidden Lake Lodge and Timberline Lodge, and those are the usual drop-off points. Sundown is the beginner area. If you're staying in a rental home on the mountain, send your driver the exact address.

What's public in 2026-27

Part of Powder Mountain is private terrain for members and homeowners. For 2026-27 the resort is adding public lifts. A new Skytrac fixed-grip triple will serve the DMI zone and give public access to more than 1,000 acres of advanced terrain. The Sundown Express, a high-speed quad, replaces an older fixed-grip quad at the beginner area. Opening day is Dec. 11, 2026.

Tickets, passes and parking

Powder Mountain isn't on Epic, Ikon or Mountain Collective. It joined the Indy Pass in 2021-22, but we couldn't confirm it's on Indy for 2026-27, so check before you plan around it. Adult lift tickets for 2026-27 run from $97 in the early and late season to $172 on peak dates, with dynamic pricing.

Parking in 2025-26 was $12 per vehicle on weekends and holidays, and free on weekdays, after 1 p.m. and for cars with three or more people. The 2026-27 rules weren't published when we checked. Last season, Powder Mountain was also open only to season passholders on Saturdays and Sundays in February 2026, so check whether that repeats before you book a February weekend.

Arriving at SLC and getting home

The SLC airport ground transportation guide shows where drivers and shuttles meet you. Powder Mountain is the longest airport drive of the resorts on this site, so leave more margin for your flight home than you would from Park City. If your trip includes a second resort, Snowbasin is on the same side of the valley. The Utah ski resorts overview compares distances for every resort.

Got questions? We have answers:

How long does it take to get from SLC airport to Powder Mountain?

Sources differ. Powderhounds says about 90 minutes for 55 miles, and OpenSnow says about 1 hour 15 minutes. Plan on 75 to 90 minutes in normal conditions. Snow on SR-158, the final climb above Eden, is what stretches it, and it's the longest airport drive of the resorts covered on this site.

Do I need 4WD or AWD to get to Powder Mountain?

It's strongly recommended. SR-158 averages about a 14% grade over its last 5 miles, which makes it one of the steepest state highways in Utah. Powderhounds recommends AWD or 4WD with good tires. If you'd rather not drive it, park at the Eden Park and Ride and take the resort shuttle, or take the UTA ski bus.

Is Powder Mountain on the Ikon or Epic Pass?

No. Ski Utah's 2026-27 pass page lists Powder Mountain on neither the Epic nor the Ikon Pass, nor on Mountain Collective. It joined the Indy Pass in 2021-22, but we couldn't confirm whether it's an Indy partner for 2026-27, so check indyskipass.com before you count on it. Lift tickets are sold with dynamic pricing.

How much are Powder Mountain lift tickets for 2026-27?

Unofficial Networks reported in September 2026 that adult full-day tickets start at $97 in the early and late season and reach $172 on peak dates, with dynamic pricing. Buying online ahead of time for peak days is the safer move. Check powdermountain.com for the price on your dates.

When does Powder Mountain open for 2026-27?

Powder Mountain has announced Dec. 11, 2026 as its opening day. That's later than most Utah resorts, many of which project late November. If your trip is in early December, Snowbasin (projected Nov. 27) is the nearest alternative from the same side of the valley.
