Canyons Village transfers from $130

Canyons Village is about 35 miles from Salt Lake City airport, roughly 40 to 50 minutes in normal conditions via I-80 and a short run up SR-224. It is the Park City Mountain base you reach first, before you get anywhere near Old Town.

A private SUV for up to 4 passengers starts at $130 per vehicle, one way, with taxes included. Groups of 5 to 14 ride together in a Sprinter van.

Flights are tracked. Wait charges may apply if a delay runs more than an hour past the scheduled arrival.

Your departure is just as easy. Your driver picks you up at your lodging and takes you back to the airport, with time to spare for check-in and security.

Rides are operated by Elite Transportation, a family-owned private transportation company serving Park City, Deer Valley and Salt Lake City. Request a rate above and dispatch confirms by text or email, usually within the hour.

A bit about your transfer to Canyons Village

Updated Oct 16, 2026. Drive times are for normal conditions.

Canyons Village is Park City Mountain's western base, sitting just off SR-224 a few minutes past Kimball Junction. From SLC you drive I-80 through Parleys Canyon, take the Kimball Junction exit and you're there before the road ever reaches Park City proper. That makes it the easiest Park City Mountain base to reach from the airport.

The closest Park City Mountain base to the airport

Our routing check puts Canyons Village about 35 miles from the SLC terminal, against roughly 38 for the Mountain Village base and 39 for Main Street. A few miles doesn't sound like much, but it also means you don't drive the rest of SR-224 into town or the narrow streets of Old Town. The same applies on the way home, when you're watching the clock for a flight.

The village sits on the Epic side of the valley. Canyons and Mountain Village are both part of Park City Mountain, so an Epic Pass covers both. Ikon holders will want our Ikon vs Epic guide, since Park City Mountain isn't on Ikon.

New for 2026-27: the Skyway gondola

The big change this winter is the Canyons Village Skyway, a 10-person gondola that replaces the old Cabriolet. It runs from the new Canyons Village parking structure up to the village at the Forum, and it's expected to start with the lifts. Park City Mountain is projecting Nov. 20, 2026 for opening day.

For a traveler arriving by transfer, the Skyway is mostly something you'll see rather than need. The driver comes into the village and drops you at your lodging. It matters more for day trips, for friends staying elsewhere who drive in to ski with you, and for anyone parking in the new garage.

Parking at Canyons Village for 2026-27

Free garage parking at Canyons is over. Here's the plan Park City Mountain announced for this season:

WhereCost for 2026-27Notes
New Canyons Village garage$29 a day, reservationsFree after 12 p.m. Free for cars with 4 or more people
Surface lot next to the garageFreeFirst come, first served
Interim surface lotsNot announcedUsed until the garage opens, expected early December
Season parking pass$825Covers this garage and the Mountain Village garage, with reservations

If you're staying in the village, ask your lodging what overnight parking costs and whether it's included. Many visitors decide the answer is to not bring a car at all.

Getting around without a car

Canyons Village is one of the easiest places in Park City to live without a rental. On the High Valley Transit timetable posted in October 2026:

  • Route 101 runs every 20 minutes, from early morning to about midnight, linking Kimball Junction, the Canyons Village Transit Hub, Park City Mountain's Mountain Village base and the Old Town Transit Center.
  • Route 105 loops around Canyons Village every 20 minutes, connecting the transit hub with lodging areas around the village and the Forum.
  • Kimball Junction, one stop away, has the groceries, shops and the 107 bus to Salt Lake.

All High Valley Transit buses are free, as are Park City Transit's routes once you're in town. We cover the trade-offs in do you need a car in Park City.

Arriving at SLC and the drive up

Pre-arranged private cars pick up on the ground level of the terminal, and our SLC airport arrivals guide shows where. The drive is the same I-80 climb through Parleys Canyon as any Park City trip, with UDOT's traction law in force on I-80 when conditions call for it. Storms add time, and you can read more about Parleys in winter on our SLC to Park City guide.

If you're going by bus, the route is TRAX into downtown, the free 107 to Kimball Junction and then the 101 one stop to Canyons. The full walkthrough is in our guide to public transit from SLC airport to Park City.

Getting back to the airport

Being the closest base helps a little on departure day, but don't trim the buffer much. Parleys Canyon in a storm is just as slow from Canyons as from Old Town. Tell the driver which building to meet you at, since the village has several separate lodging areas.

Got questions? We have answers:

What replaced the Cabriolet at Canyons Village?

For 2026-27, the new 10-person Canyons Village Skyway gondola replaces the old Cabriolet lift. It carries skiers from the new Canyons Village parking structure up to the village at the Forum, and it is expected to run when the lifts open (projected Nov. 20, 2026). If you are staying in the village and arrive by transfer, you are dropped at your lodging and won't need it to get in.

Is parking free at Canyons Village in 2026-27?

Mostly no. The new garage costs $29 a day with reservations, but it is free after 12 p.m. and free for cars carrying four or more people. There is also a free first-come surface lot next to the garage. The garage is expected to open in early December, with interim surface lots before that. Check parkcitymountain.com for the reservation system.

Do I need a car if I stay at Canyons Village?

Usually not. High Valley Transit's free route 101 links Canyons Village with Kimball Junction, Park City Mountain's Mountain Village base and Old Town every 20 minutes, and route 105 loops around the village itself. Groceries and shops are at Kimball Junction, one stop away. A car mainly helps if you plan to ski resorts outside Park City.

Can I take the bus from SLC airport to Canyons Village?

Yes, with transfers. Ride TRAX from the airport into downtown Salt Lake, take the free High Valley Transit 107 to Kimball Junction (about an hour), then route 101 one stop to Canyons Village. The 107 runs roughly every 90 minutes on the October 2026 timetable, so check times before you land.

Is Canyons Village part of Park City Mountain?

Yes. Canyons Village is one of Park City Mountain's two base areas, along with Mountain Village in town. It is an Epic Pass resort (unlimited on the full Epic Pass, with holiday blackouts on Epic Local) and is not on the Ikon Pass.
